Green.travel's Giving-Back Program

  1. What is Green.travel's Giving-Back Program?
Our Giving-Back Program states that one percent (1%) of the cost of travel booked through Green.travel will be donated to a sustainable travel initiative.

  2. How does the Program work?
All the travel companies that you find on Green.travel have pledged to donate one percent (1%) of the cost of any travel they sell through Green.travel to to our Giving-Back Program.

  3. How can these travel companies afford to donate one percent?
Unlike most travel websites, Green.travel doesn't charge travel companies a commision for travel purchased by people who visit our website.

  4. Why doesn't Green.travel charge a commission?
We don't charge a commission because our main objective is to connect responsible travelers with sustainable travel providers, and we want to make that processs as easy and comfortable as possible for all concerned.  We want to promote sustainable companies that have pledged to financially support sustainable travel initiatives.  We need your support in return by contacting the companies listed here through our site, so they know you found them through us, so that they renew their listings with us in the future which is what sustains our operations.

  5. How can I help?
You play an important role! To guarantee that the one percent (1%) donation is made, you have to book your your travel directly through Green.travel, or (if you book directly through the travel company) you have to be sure to clearly tell the travel company that you found out about them through Green.travel.

    Please don't forget!

  6. Who manages the donations that are collected?
The donations are managed by the non-profit organization Sustainable Travel International (STI), which has managed very highly regarded philanthropic sustainable travel programs since 2002.

In conjunction with the organization Global Giving, STI has funded numerous highly effective Giving-Back programs throughout the world. Much of their work has been done in developing countries, where even small donations go a long way toward promoting social and economic justice and toward protecting the environment.
